DYOR Virtual 5K

Moved to raise awareness about refugees, Pegah Kamrani, UNC Adams School of Dentistry fourth year dental student, decided to also take the opportunitty to honor the legacy of Deah Barakat, Yusor Abu- Salha, and Razan Abu-Salha by holding a virtual 5k to support the DYOR Clinic.

While with us, Deah and Yusor worked to provide oral healthcare to Syrian refugees in Turkey. The DYOR Clinic was established by Our Three Winners in an effort to continue their work and provide oral healthcare to refugees and low-income families in Raleigh, North Carolina. DYOR Clinic's name was coined as a tribute to the trending social media hashtag that was used for Deah and Yusor's wedding celebration.

DYOR Clinic not only provides refugees and low-income families with emergency oral healthcare, but it also gives students a chance to work with those in need to help them establish more comprehensive and permanent dental care. Through our student and faculty volunteers from the University of North Carolina Adams School of Dentistry, this clinic has created a valuable learning environment that provides adjunct clinical experience, as well as perspectives on the struggles of our beloved community face. All of this work is done with love and while we strive to serve as many people as possible, we still need the ongoing support of our community. It costs us $100 to see a single patient and cover ALL dental work needed. We are counting on you to keep this clinic thriving.

Registration for the Virtual 5k only costs $5 and all raised funds will be used towards the DYOR Clinic. The Dental Foundation of North Carolina has graciously agreed to match up to $1,000 of funds raised.

Thank you for your support,

Our Three Winners
